Grass and Dirt

We finally decided we were done with our nonexistent lawn and trying to grow grass with Missouri soil (rock and clay). So a month ago Randy and friends (David Anson and Andy Brimhall) laid three inches of dirt over our front lawn. Grass seed, fertilizer and hay (It's a Midwest thing) came next. For the next week it rained torrentially and most of our dirt was washed away. We were frustrated with the rain because our precious dirt was leaving a trail into the street drain, but after a week tiny green tips began to peek up above the hay. The grass came in fast, but we realized most of the seed was washed away. WE SHOULD HAVE LAID DOWN SOD!! We are working on the filling in the patches, sticking to a strict watering schedule, and crossing our fingers that our precious grass will last the hot summer.

Wow! I never even saw your yard when it was just dirt. Gotta love Missouri and how QUICK everything grows!

DANG! That is really amazing. Nice work! I put seed on my grass and the birds eat it.

Yey! A yard! Looks like quite the project. Something Randy would totally do & something Jason would totally hire out! You have to love your handy hubby!
