Christmas 2009

Christmas Day was so fun. 

This year was the year to put away the 4 foot tree on top of the coffee table and bring in the 6 foot tree. My dreams are coming true...well, we are getting closer! It has been fun celebrating the Christmas holiday here in Vegas. It is fantastic to walk out after shopping, and the weather be warm and beautiful instead of blistering cold. There is also plenty of lawn ornaments to cover the grass instead of snow. Honestly, I was surprised I didn't miss the snow this year. We'll see if that changes down the road. 

anyway...back to the presents!

The stockings full of Red Vines, and other special gifts.

Maryn was in pink heaven. She was so excited to open her princess Aurora dress from Grandma Lomax. She immediately put it on, shoes and all. Mason gave her the pink pig. The pig was by her side all day. It really meant at lot to her to get a gift from Mason.

Mason was in heaven with his Star Wars, and Transformer costumes. Maryn also game him a brown moose. He loved it and hugged her and hugged her.

This also was the year of the Wii. We spoke to Santa many times about this gift. You see, mason wanted Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Santa was happy to give the game to Mason. He'd been a very good boy, and Santa was pleased how well he had  making new friends and moving to a new city. But we had to remind Santa that Mason couldn't play his game since we did not have the Wii game system.   

Santa understood and suggested that dad and mom to take one for the team and ask for the Wii system, instead of a road bikes. We took Santa's advise even though we were hoping he would just throw in the system....Not in Santa's world. Santa brought the Lomax Family Wii. A Wii princess game for Maryn. Mason's Very long titled Winter game. Dad, the console and accessories, and Mom, the Wii fit. Mom is still not trying to take it personally.

Mom was surprised with a very unexpected gift from Mom and Dad L. 

Willow Tree nativity set.

Randy was showered with gifts for running, cycling and swimming. 

The gift opening lasted the usual 3 hours. It is our fault it takes so long. We unwrap gifts one by one time, take the gift out of the box, play with it and then on to the next person. There is half time for the young ones who are done and want to eat. 

After Cinnamon rolls and German pancakes we are ready to open more. 

This technique really used to bother me. When I was growing up it was find your gifts and a clear spot and have at it. I loved it since I didn't have to wait on anyone, but marrying into the Lomax clan it became about patience. I have learned to love waiting and seeing what each gift is and seeing the reaction on the receiver's and giver's face. Now with kiddos it is priceless. Sometimes it back fires when they open a toy and they just want to play with that toy and are not interested in opening more. 

It is still a fun tradition for us know and each Christmas.
