Kids Day Out Camp 2008

Mason grew up a lot last week. He was involved in a fun "day camp" organized by eleven year old kids. This was new territory for Mason since the only person he knew at camp was the director, Krista (11 years old).

Day 1 Hawaiian Day.
He wanted me to stay and be with him. In fact, Maryn was more interested in the camp than Mason was. I stayed for about thirty minutes until Mason said it was okay for me to leave.

Day 2 Nature Day.
He wanted me to stay until he saw Krista and the other councillors and then it was, "goodbye Mom".

Day 3 Beach Day.
He had a blast swimming and making crafts. He also replaced Dad with a new best friend named Nicholas (camp councillor). (Randy is still recovering).

Day 4 Water Day.
Slip-n-sliding, swimming, and playing on the playground--Mason is confident and excited about his new friends. He also has replaced Nicolas with Giovanni as his newest best friend. His confidence in the swimming pool is increasing too, since I saw him jumping off a six foot wall into the pool!

Day 5 Pirate Day.
They searched for treasure buried in mushed up macaroni (which Mason would not touch), decorated treasure boxes, played with pirate swords and spent more time swimming and having a great time.

Mason had a blast and I can see a change in him. I was worried about how he would handle the social side of preschool, but now my mind is more at ease since he did so well with kids he didn't know at the Day Camp. I'm sure he will do great in all areas of preschool...My little dude is growing up.

Krista back row in the light blue shirt. She is a talented and gifted young woman with amazing determination and drive. Thanks Krista for opening a whole new world to Mason.

Mason the cute Dude in the front on the right. Love you little Man!

A six foot wall?!? Did you know he was going to do it or did he surprise you? :) What a brave little stud.

It is fun to see my nephew growing up especially after hearing of all his little fears. I always find it interesting how quick kids can change and adjust.

Friends showed Mason how to do it and he jumped on his own. I was walking toward the pool to pick him up and there he was life jacket and all jumping off the ledge.

Doesn't it seem like just yesterday we were having our little dudes? Can you believe we will be the parents of pre-schoolers? Crazy! What a cute summer camp. It is perfect to get him ready for the fall. He is such a cutie!
